Turtle Rock Studios has released Tunnels of Terror, the first of three expansion packs for Back 4 Blood.

Since the first-person shooter released in October 2021, Tunnels of Terror is the first DLC to feature two new playable characters, Sharice and Heng. Sharice will be able to craft Temporary Armors for players, while Heng will provide additional materials and visibility for hidden items and Prepper Stashes. For DLC owners, both characters are accessible in the campaign and in Swarn PvP, but for those without DLC, they can only be unlocked in Swarm.

A new co-op event called Ridden Hives has also been added to the game, tasking you with exploring seven different dungeons deep within Evansburgh overrun by Warped Ridden.

Alongside the new character, weapon skins, banners, sprays and emblems, new cards will also be available, with two of the five Director cards unique to Ridden Hive. In terms of gameplay, when in a safe room, players will now remove their weapons for 500 copper, allowing them to freely change or remove weapon attachments.

Additionally, Turtle Rock has finally released the ultra-hard No Hope difficulty mode for the game, as well as 7 legendary weapons, 13 legendary add-ons, and 12 new achievements for players to obtain.

Turtle Rock previously revealed its roadmap for Back 4 Blood, confirming that a host of free updates and two other as-yet-unnamed expansions are still coming in 2022. Both DLCs are expected to be released this year.

Back in March, the developer announced that 10 million people played Back 4 Blood, making it the best-selling new game for consoles of 2021.
