How to Perform Mortal Kombat 11 Fatality and Brutality? Fatality and Brutality are crosses of Mortal Kombat's DNA as exaggerated ways to kill your opponent and have hooked fans for over 20 years. Here's everything you need to know to execute these finishers flawlessly in Mortal Kombat 11.
Netherrealm Studios has attempted to bring Mortal Kombat back to its roots, following the high-octane gameplay introduced in Mortal Kombat 10. Mortal Kombat 2019, released in March 11, fulfilled this promise.
Once again featuring OG characters such as Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade, the game was slower-paced and relied on melee combat reminiscent of Mortal Kombat 2.
With a back-to-basics philosophy, Netherrealm Studios decided to highlight the features that made fans fall in love with Mortal Kombat: Fatality.
To prepare you for the brutal battles ahead, we'll discuss how to do and unlock fatality and brutality in Mortal Kombat 11.
How to do fatality in Mortal Kombat 11
Players can perform a kill via a series of buttons after completely depleting their opponent's health bar.
Here's how to make a lethal blow in Mortal Kombat 11:
- Install Mortal Kombat 11 and dive into a game.
- Select the character of your choice.
- Click pause and select 'move list' to find the sequences you need.
- Next, go to finishing moves and you will see your available finishing moves listed there.
- Perform the sequence for the character until the announcer shouts: “Finish Him!”
- Perform the fatal action with the given button sequence found in the game.
Mortal Kombat 11 sequence types: Controls
Fatalities have different button sequences depending on the character the player chooses. Button arrays consist of a combination of the following buttons:
- Front Punch: Square PS4|5, X Xbox One/X|S, Y Switch
- Back Punch: Triangle PS4|5, Y Xbox One/X|S, X Switch
- Front Kick: X PS4|5, A Xbox One/X|S, B Switch
- Kick Back: Circle PS4|5, B Xbox One/X|S, A Switch
Deadly button sequences can also include directional inputs, but these can be done with the d-pad or joystick depending on which way you're facing your opponent.
During this short time period, the player character will be able to perform a Fatality. If the player presses the correct sequence of buttons, the warrior will likely decapitate the enemy somehow.
Each character in Mortal Kombat 11 has been given a unique Fatality based on their aesthetic and gameplay. So, depending on the fighter you choose, players are presented with many ways to brutally end their rivalry.
How to do Brutality in Mortal Kombat 11
Brutality is slightly different from Fatality. A player can perform a brutality as a round and combo finisher.
There's a catch, though: players will need to meet a certain match condition before they can properly carry out their atrocities.
For example, to pull off Sub-Zero's "Dancing on the Ceiling" atrocity, players will need to land their finishing blow with an accurate shot while in the air.
Mortal Kombat 11 players will be able to find out what conditions are required for Brutality in the "move lists" tab of their chosen character, just like in Fatality.
How to unlock Fatalities and Brutality
If you need more Fatality and Brutality for your favorite fighter, you'll be able to find more of these special moves by exploring the Krypt.
Players can also unlock more Fatalities by performing unlocked moves during a match. Unfortunately, players will not be able to perform locked Brutality in-game and will have to purchase them randomly from the in-game store as an alternative.
