Respawn has finally released current-gen versions of Apex Legends that take better advantage of the power of Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

Apex Legends has finally moved to the current generation Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Apex Legends went live with the Warriors Collection Event, which will run until April 12.

This means that if you play Apex Legends on PS5 or Xbox Series X, you'll now get 4k output, full 60Hz gameplay, HDR support, higher resolution shadows, and greater draw distance. Series S will only support 60Hz gameplay and HDR support.

Developer Respawn has more current-gen updates planned for the future, with both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions featuring 120Hz gameplay and additional visual and audio improvements. On top of that, the PS5 version of Apex Legends will get DualSense adaptive trigger and haptic feedback support.

The current generation version of Apex Legends on Xbox Series X|S will be downloaded automatically via Smart Delivery. However, on PS5 you will have to go through a few steps to download the current generation version and that will keep the PS4 version playing unless you tell it to.

To download the PS5 version, first go to the Apex Legends game center on the PS5 dashboard. Next, click “Options” and then “Select Version”. You should see an option stating that you want to download the PS5 version of the game. Make sure to delete the PS4 version from your console as well.

The Warriors Collection Event also brings back the limited-time Control mode with a new map set at the Caustic Treatment point of interest in Kings Canyon. Unlocking all 24 epic and legendary cosmetics in the event collection will make Crypto's heirloom clear - one of many new items to be revealed in a major Apex Legends leak, possibly also revealing the battle royale game's next nine playable characters.
