Call of Duty: Warzone January 7 update nerfs Akimbo Double Barrel!

You will need a new CQC pistol this weekend.

A new update for Call of Duty: Warzone was released before the weekend and includes a major nerf to a problematic weapon add-on in Caldera.

Gamers are going wild with the akimbo Double Barrel shotgun, and Raven Software was well aware of that. The Akimbo perk has received a heavy nerf, with a big drop in damage multiplier but increases in damage range multiplier and hip spread.

“The Akimbo Double Barrel (VG) has consistently managed to be deadly at extreme ranges,” Raven said. “While we agree that shotguns should be the deadliest option at close range, we must intervene when that range begins to breach the submachine gun range.”

Raven also confirmed that nerfs are coming for both the Bren and MP-40, the two main meta-weapons available, “to bridge the gap between these two Weapons and their rivals.”

“We will also reduce what is often referred to as 'Visual Recoil' in Vanguard assault rifles,” Raven said. “We think this will help encourage a healthier, more diverse pool of medium and long-range weapons.”
