CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has once again delayed the release of its next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CDPR originally targeted late 2021 for a free next-gen upgrade update to the game, but the developer later pushed it to the second quarter of 2022, and now it's unclear when exactly we'll be able to play the update.

“We have decided to have our in-house development team handle the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” CDPR said in an announcement via the official The Witcher Twitter account. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and therefore we need to delay the Q2 release until further notice.”

CDPR has not yet explained in detail what will happen in The Witcher 3's next-gen update.
