It will be published again by 505 Games.

January 4th Update: The leak was legit, and now there's an official press release for Death Stranding: Director's Cut that puts the release date as 2022. Steam page there is. The original story goes like this.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut seems like a pretty wild development, and it's already an upgrade to what's been our 2020 game of the year. The game was released exclusively for the Playstation 5 late last year, but as with the original, the expectation was that we'd eventually see it on PC (after all, the Steam version sold incredibly well).

This appears to be a certification after hardware site Videocardz.com received an early copy of a CES 2022 press release from Intel about the new Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) graphics technology. Videocardz tends to be one of the biggest leakers of hardware stories on the web, and the release includes a quote from 505 Games president Neil Rally about the integration of Intel tech into Death Stranding: Director's Cut.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Intel for the PC version of Death Stranding Director's Cut,” Rally says. “Death Stranding has been a hugely popular game among PC gamers, and we're excited to see how Intel's new XeSS technology will improve the player experience for Director's Cut.”

No other specific titles implementing XeSS are mentioned, though there are studios such as Codemasters, PUBG Studios, and Ubisoft that are stated to be working with the technology. Intel has talked in depth about XeSS technology before, and its GPU-neutral approach should appeal to developers.

Looks like it's time to deliver cargo again. Death Stranding is already a great experience, and the Director's Cut has added loads of new things, including VR missions that mirror Metal Gear, new items like flying packs, and a pretty ridiculous racetrack. Perhaps the most Kojima moment on DC's release came when he announced that he wasn't happy with being called 'director's cut' – as if he had no say in it.
