Arkane Studio's next highly anticipated game, Deathloop, is coming out today, and early reviewers blame Denuvo for performance issues on PC.

Arkane Studio's anticipated first-person shooter Deathloop, it's officially out tomorrow and has been described as innovative - experimental. The minimum recommended features of Deathloop, which was announced specifically for PlayStation 5 and PC, were quite high, especially compared to other modern games, causing PC players to be nervous. As the first reviews surfaced, one YouTuber pointed out that even at the highest possible PC specs, Deathloop runs poorly due to Denuvo, an anti-cheat software.

Denuvo Anti-Cheatis an anti-piracy digital rights management system that game developers can choose to include in their games, making it harder for people to “break” and ensuring that players do not hack them. (DRM). Despite being confirmable, Denuvo proved to be counterintuitive, as developers who launched their games with the system received negative feedback for slowing games down and degrading performance. An example of this is Resident Evil 8, which was highly praised at release but criticized for the instability of the PC version. After it was announced that the title achieved better PC performance without the Denuvo DRM causing high CPU usage, Capcom made a statement and released a new patch.

According to popular YouTuber GmanLives, known for covering first-person shooter games, the PC version of Deathloop has performance issues, assuming it has something to do with Denuvo DRM. The 3080 TI continues to say that despite having 64GB of Ram and an I7 processor, it struggles to achieve a decent frame rate and is shocked that it exceeds the recommended requirements. Lowering the resolution to 1080p also doesn't fix the choppy frame rate issue, stating that the game runs smoothly on PS5 at 60fps compared to the PC version. Another YouTube commentator, ACG, says the PC version's settings and graphics offer a better experience compared to PS5.

Deathloopis a first-person action-adventure game developed by the famous Arkane Studios. A combination of Arkane's popular games Dishonored and Prey, this game is designed to immerse the player in an endless loop of time where they slowly but surely learn the necessary pieces to solve various puzzles before the day resets. While Deathloop isn't out for Xbox until 2022, initial reviews labeled it a 2021 Game of the Year nominee.
