While you can "main" a particular character, you can try others to see what they bring to the table. Here's our Diablo 4 class center guide to help you with the different heroes to choose from.
Diablo 4 Classes – Playable Classes and Gameplays
There are five Diablo 4 classes that we know of right now. These are Barbarian, Rogue, Sorcerer, Necromancer and Druid. Each has unique mechanics that allow for a variety of gameplay, namely skills (i.e. abilities that can be activated), abilities (i.e. passives) and certain quirks that make them stand out.
Sorcerer
Diablo 4 Sorcerer is your traditional sorcerer. This character harnesses the power of the elements, burning enemies with fire, freezing them with ice, or striking them with lightning. The class also uses the Spell mechanic where active skills can be equipped for a passive bounty.
Barbarian
Everyone loves Barbarian, which is indispensable in the Diablo series. These monsters charge into battle, jumping down to crush their foes and shouting their battle cries to burst their lungs. Barbarians use Weapon Arsenal mechanics when their abilities require a certain type of weapon (slicing, batting, two-handed, and the like). They can freely switch their weapons to activate and switch between various attacks.

Arrogant
Rogues are your so-called dexterity class, agile and agile, dashing quickly to evade attacks or strike at the most unexpected moment. Similar to characters from previous games like Amazon and Demon Hunter, Rogues offers a mix of both melee and ranged expertise. Moreover, the Deployment mechanics allow attacks to infuse poison, cold, or shadow damage.
Necromancer
Necromancers tend to be a fan favorite for longtime Diablo fans. Partly because of their background knowledge (i.e. they are Rathma Priests) and strengths. Chief among these are the tools to raise undead minions/golems, blast corpses, and use their bone and poison powers. Diablo 4 Necromancer will be available during the open beta, which runs from March 24-27.
Druid
Diablo 4 Druid is a hybrid class. On the one hand, they can cast some magic as their ties to nature allow them to summon the elements. On the other hand, they can turn into ferocious beasts by smashing enemies that come too close. Similar to Necromancer, Druid will also become playable during the open beta.
