Australian tactician and content creator Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit returns to Gen.G, this time to become head coach of VALORANT.
The 25-year-old previously worked as a CS:GO head coach at the North American organization from December 2019 to January 2021 and has been out of competition since Cloud9 closed its CS:GO division in May. Now that Elmapuddy has moved to Riot Games' FPS, he will be reuniting with Kenneth “koosta” Suen, who he previously coached in Counter-Strike twice.
Elmapuddy arrived at Gen.G just in time for the North American VCT 12 Last Chance Qualifier, which will be held October 17-2021. The team had been training without a coach since mid-August when Matthew “mCe” Elmore left. In July, the NA VCT will ship with the organization following the top six places at Stage Three Challengers Two.
“I am really excited to be back and reuniting with koosta in a cast again,” Elmapuddy said in the official announcement. “I'm excited to coach at VALORANT because I think it's a game where coaches can have a lot of influence, there are far fewer sets, people are still working on the meta, and there are constant changes in managers. ”
The Australian isn't the only one joining Gen.G's VALORANT roster ahead of the NA VCT 2021 Last Chance Qualifier. The North Americans had Michael “MkaeL” De Luca in reserve earlier this month, and they borrowed Nolan “Temperature” Pepper from Evil Geniuses yesterday.
The NA VCT Last Chance Qualifier will see 10 teams vying for a spot on VALORANT Champions at the end of the year. Gen.G will play against C10 Blue in the last 9 and if they win the first game they will face 100 Thieves in the quarterfinals.
