According to a report by Sensor Tower, Free Fire was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide in the first month of 2022.

The Battle Royale game achieved an impressive 31 million downloads in 24 days, which represents an increase of 51,6 percent year over year. Most of these downloads came from India, which accounted for 25,5 percent of the total, with Brazil in second place with 11,7 percent.

Free Fire is one of the most played games worldwide and consistently ranks first in the Sensor Tower monthly download reports. It's not yet clear how many downloads the game will receive this month, following the ban that Free Fire reported earlier this week in its biggest market, India.

Free Fire was unexpectedly removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in February. Two days later, Indian media reported that the game was banned by the Indian government, along with 53 other applications, for posing a "threat to national security". Still, there was no official statement from Delhi about the ban.

Most players from India can still play the game. But it is not available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. For Android users, this is not a big deal as they can download APK files from a third-party store and enter the game.

However, the absence of Free Fire in the two biggest mobile app stores will definitely take a big hit in their overall downloads. Developer Garena said earlier this week that he was aware that the game was not available on app stores and was working to resolve this situation.
