The VALORANT Champions group stage has received its first victims. FURIA, Crazy Raccoon and FULL SENSE were sent home in their group's Elimination match.
Today has been a busy day for VALORANT fans. The VALORANT Champions event is in full swing and the teams are slowly making their way into the playoffs. All three teams have been eliminated and will watch the rest of the tournament from the sidelines.
At the end of the first match of the day, Acend and Vivo Keyd solved the fiasco. Acend won the series and replaced the Group A Winner against Envy, while Vivo Keyd was relegated to the Qualifying match against the X10 CRIT. Vivo Keyd will have to fight two more games to make it to the playoffs, where the other three teams failed.
Crazy Raccoon became the tournament's first victim and was eliminated by Team Secret in the Group C Qualifier. They were swept away in their first game against Team Vikings and failed to win a map against Team Secret, leaving the tournament without winning a single map.
FURIA was the next team on the chopping block and was sent home by KRU Esports. In the first game of the event, they faced the North American juggernaut Sentinels and took a win at Breeze. They were unable to close the series in Haven and were sent to the Group B Qualifier to face the KRU. FURIA started the series strong by winning a game in Fracture, but KRU secured the next two maps to eliminate the Brazilian team.
The last victim of the day was FULL SENSE in Group D. Many considered Group D to be the toughest group, and FULL SENSE was stuck between a rock and a hard place. They faced the Vision Strikers in their first match and were quickly swept away. They were sent to the Elimination match against Cloud9 Blue. They forced Breeze to overtime but were unable to move the series to map three and this team was eliminated from the tournament without winning a single map.
Five more teams will be eliminated before the VALORANT Champions playoffs begin. The next match will be between Acend and Envy in Group A and the loser will wait to face the winner between Vivo Keyd and X10 CRIT.
