Campers will now be called cyberpunks.
Another free-to-join event is coming to Halo Infinite. Cyber Showdown is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 18.
A teaser clip shared on Halo Twitter today showed off just a few cosmetics, including a holographic neon mohawk and visor, each of which looks like a helmet attachment, and a cyber-themed revival animation. The trailer also shows a player being burned by the Sentinel Beam on the Streets map, though it's unclear whether this weapon or map will be featured in event challenges.
Like previous events like the holiday event Winter Contingency and the multi-week Tenrai: Fracture, Cyber Showdown will feature a small, free reward path that includes cosmetics and XP consumables. Completing the event challenges will give players the experience of progressing through different stages.
Halo Infinite's track record with free-to-play events got off to a rough start in the first week of Fracture: Tenrai. Players expressed their disappointment with the small number of cosmetic rewards and the weekly progression cap. But the team at 343 greatly improved the progression system and potential rewards in time for week two events to start in early January.
The Cyber Showdown event officially kicks off on January 18. An official end date has not been announced yet.
