It's hard to figure out which weapons are the best in Lords of Fallen, because the game offers over a hundred different ways to bash demonic heads and slice shadow monsters – and that's not taking spell catalysts into account. You'll soon find your inventory full of more weapons than you can use. However, some early game weapons are definitely better than others. Rather than trying to rank every single weapon in the game, this list breaks down the best starting weapons you can get, whether you're planning a hammer-wielding barbarian, an agile assassin, or something more magic-based. At work The best weapons you should get early when playing Lords of the Fallen!
Lords of the Fallen Best Strength Focused Weapons
Here are the best power-scale weapons you can find in the early game:
Faithful Bludgeon
- Weapon type: Big Hammer
- Requirements: 28 Power
- Location: Under the Skyrest Bridge
- Damage type: Physical
- Status effect: Burn
If you're looking for an early game power weapon to crush enemies, Faithful Bludgeon is one of the best you'll find. This large hammer is located under the Skyrest Bridge. You'll find an elevator underneath the wooden pathways near Chabui's Vestige in Sanctuary. Take the elevator, go down and cross the bridge. In the distance, on a lower platform to the right, you'll see an item. To grab the gun, walk across the platform using the umbral lamp and then jump on it. One really nice thing about this weapon is that although its damage is purely physical, it can inflict burns on enemies over time.
Crimson Rector Sword or Thorned Crimson Rector Sword
- Weapon type: Long Sword
- Requirements: 19 Power
- Location: Under the Skyrest Bridge
- Damage type: Physical
- Status effect: Bleeding
If you're looking for a standard greatsword in the early game, any of these will meet your needs. The normal version is pretty close to where the Skyrest Bridge Switch is located. From where you found the Faithful Bludgeon above, cross the bone bridge in the umbral, use Soulflay to activate the next bridge, and then look for a ladder straight ahead and to your right. This leads to a broken fountain with an umbral bug enemy and a sword.
There's also the Thorned Crimson Rector Sword, which is the same but also inflicts bleeding. Once you reach Blind Agatha's Vestige at the top of Pilgrim's Perch, move into the umbral realm, pass the pointy-headed enemy, and you'll see a large, outstretched hand where the weapon was located.
Proselyte Sword
- Weapon type: Long Sword
- Requirements: 19 Power
- Location: Random drop from Proselyte in Redcopse
- Damage type: Physical and Fire
- Status effect: Burn
This is definitely one of the best weapons you can access in the early game, but the downside is that since it's a random drop, you have to farm it from the Proselyte enemy in the Redcopse village or on the bridge before Pieta's boss arena, which is a pretty tough challenge if you're just starting out. Proselyte is easily recognizable as he is a skeletal looking warrior with a red cloak and huge sword.
The unique feature of the Proselyte Sword is that although it deals fire damage and burn stack, it does not scale with Inferno. This means it's perfect if you're using a purely power-based build and want to apply extra damage and status stacks.
Pale Butcher's Blade
Weapon type: Great Sword
Requirements: 25 Strength, 20 Agility
Location: Abandoned Swamp
Damage type: Physical and Fading
This large butcher's cleaver sword is located in Forsaken Fen, a little later than the others. After taking the bridge shortcut down while running to the Silent Saint boss, you'll find it in a hut to your left, next to two small poisonous swamp creatures. There is also a Shuja warrior in the hut, so be careful. What makes this Great Sword so good is that it is one of the few weapons that deals Fade damage.
Lords of the Fallen Best Agility Focused Weapons
Here are the best Agility-scale weapons you can find in the early game:
Fist of Insight
- Weapon type: Fist Requirements: 10 Agility
- Location: Gentle Gavernus in Pilgrim's Perch was purchased from Damarose the Marked before the Mistress of Hounds boss.
- Damage type: Physical
- Status effect: Burn
This is hands down the best hand-to-hand combat weapon you can get in the early game in Lords of Fallen. You can purchase it from Damarose the Marked when you meet her outside the Gentle Gavernus boss arena in Pilgrim's Perch. This is right after you open the elevator shortcut to get back to Blind Agatha's Vestige and go down a flight of stairs and take another elevator down. Note that Damarose leaves if you start the boss, so be sure to purchase this weapon first. While Fist of Insight isn't incredible in terms of damage, it does apply burn buildup, which is very powerful on such a fast-attacking weapon.
Kukajin's Sword
- Weapon type: Short Sword
- Requirements: 12 Agility, 8 Strength
- Location: You get it by smashing Kukajin's statue in Forsaken Fen.
- Damage type: Physical
- Status effect: Bleeding and Poison
To obtain this weapon, you must effectively fail an NPC quest in Forsaken Fen by smashing Kukajin's statue instead of helping him. However, his Short Sword is quite amazing and inflicts both bleeding and poison at the same time. Like Fist of Insight, this has a very fast attack speed, making it easy to build these stats on bosses and enemies. You can find Kukajin in a cave next to a blazing fire right after unlocking the shortcut from Valade's Vestige.
Hallowed Praise
- Weapon type: Short Sword
- Requirements: 12 Agility
- Location: Pilgrim's Perch
- Damage type: Physical and Sacred
- Status effect: Bleeding
This good Shortsword is found on your main path in Pilgrim's Perch and is a strong early game choice for Agility-scale weapons. Deals holy damage as well as bleeding accumulation. After the Scourged Sister Delyth boss, cross the drawbridge and take the first shortcut until you come to a section with a hanging platform that you need to jump between and pilgrim enemies that use a scintillation spell. On the farthest platform where the ladder is located, you'll find a corpse with this weapon stuck in it.
Lords of the Fallen Best Weapons (RADIANCE Focused)
Here are the best radiance-scale weapons you can find in the early game:
Orian Preacher Hammer
- Weapon type: Hammer
- Requirements: 13 Radiance, 10 Power
- Location: Purchased from Exacter Dunmire in Skyrest Bridge
- Damage type: Physical and Sacred
There aren't actually that many Flare-scale weapons in Lords of Fallen's early game. One of the best is Pieta's Sword, found in the boss weapons section below, but for this you need to unlock the ability to purchase boss weapons and collect enough Umbral Scourings first. In the meantime, the Orian Preacher Hammer is your best bet. This is essentially the starter loadout for the Orian Preacher class, but if you decide you want to build towards Radiance later, you can purchase it from Exacter Dunmire.
Lords of the Fallen Best INFERNO Focused Weapons
Here are the best Inferno-scale weapons you can find in the early game
Raw Mangler Axe
- Weapon type: Balt
- Requirements: 13 Inferno
- Location: Drops from double axe-wielding enemies in Redcopse.
- Damage type: Physical and Fire
- Status effect: Burn
One of my favorite weapons is the Raw Mangler Axe, which deals both fire damage and burn stacking, especially depending on when you can pick it up. It also doesn't seem like a very rare drop, so you can double-use it to quickly burn through enemies and bosses. You can obtain it by killing the dual axe-wielding Raw Mangler enemies in the Redcopse village before reaching the Pieta boss battle. You can also buy it at the same time as Fist of Insight from Damarose the Marked before the Gentle Gavernus boss.
Rusty Cutter
- Weapon type: Short Sword
- Requirements: 11 Power, 11 Inferno
- Location: In the lava pool opposite Pieta's boss arena entrance
- Damage type: Physical and Fire
If you're looking for a weapon that scales with both Strength and Inferno, the Rusty Cutter is an easy weapon to get. You can find it in a lava pool opposite Pieta's boss arena entrance, in the corner by turning left from where the enemies are fighting each other. While this Short Sword doesn't apply burn stacking, it still deals fire damage, so it might be a good choice if you haven't acquired Raw Mangler Ax yet or don't have exactly 13 in Inferno.
Best Weapons Drops from Lords of the Fallen Bosses
Here are the best early boss weapons you can buy after finding the Bowl of Revelations and its souvenirs from Molhu…
Pieta's Sword
- Weapon type: Short Sword Requirements: 25 Radiance
- Location: Pieta purchased from Molhu after unlocking boss weapons after defeating She of Blessed Renewal
- Damage type: Sacred
- Status effect: Wrath of the God of War
Since you can unlock boss weapons relatively early, Pieta's Sword is definitely the strongest first option for Radiance-scale weapons. You'll need to collect enough Umbral Scourings by defeating bosses and using Soulflay on umbral memories, but it shouldn't take too long. Besides a beautiful glow, Pieta's Sword deals holy damage and is one of the few weapons that inflicts a buildup of the wrath of the god of war that causes enemies to explode.
Hushed Saint's Halberd
- Weapon type: pole arm Requirements: 19 Strength, 16 Agility
- Location: Purchased from Molhu after unlocking boss weapons after defeating the Silent Saint
- Damage type: Physical
- Status effect: Poison
The Silent Saint's Halberd is a great Strength and Agility scale polearm that deals poison damage. There aren't many weapons that deal poison damage in the early stages, aside from Kukajin's Sword and the Shuja Warrior Spear you can get in Forsaken Fen, so if you want a high-scale poison weapon, this is a good choice.
Lords of the Fallen Best Ranged Weapons and Catalysts
In addition to the basic catalysts you can purchase from Exacter Dunmire and Molhu in Skyrest Bridge, you can obtain them early in the game The best spell casting catalysts and ranged weapons are…
Wilmarc's Catalyst
- Weapon type: Luminescence Catalyst
- Requirements: 18 Sparkle
- Location: Behind Kukajin's Statue in Forsaken Fen
You can get this catalyst by smashing Kukajin's statue or helping him in Forsaken Fen. This catalyst is definitely better than your standard Radiance Catalyst because it has one more spell slot.
Searing Accusation
Weapon type: Inferno Catalyst
Requirements: 18 Infernos
Location: After escaping the dark entity in the secret crypt beneath the Skyrest Bridge
This is the oldest Hell Catalyst you can get if you haven't chosen the Pyric Cultist class, and it's actually better than the Pyric Cultist Catalyst since it has four spell slots. Obtaining it and finding the hidden crypt under the Skyrest Bridge is a key piece to rescuing the Tortured Prisoner. You'll need to give him this catalyst to unlock him as a pyromancy spell dealer. This will allow you to purchase pyromancy and Pyric Cultist Catalyst, but until then you can also hold on to Searing Accusation. After defeating the Spurned Progeny boss in Calrath, you can give him the giant eyeball item and he will return the Searing Accusation.
Hallowed Bow
- Weapon type: Arrow
- Requirements: 15 Agility, 8 Strength
- Location: Upon entering Pilgrim's Perch after the Scourged Sister Delyth boss.
- Damage type: Physically
If you're looking for a bow that can be picked up early, you can pick it up as soon as you enter Pilgrim's Perch. After the Scourged Sister Delyth boss, you'll enter a cave with a dark flowerbed and then emerge into a series of walkways. Instead of climbing the higher path with the spiked enemy, switch to Darkness, run down the spine on the left, and jump to the opposite platform to grab this bow.
Using Pilgrim's Perch Key
If you purchase the Pilgrim's Perch Key from Stomund in Skyrest Bridge, you can access Pilgrim's Perch early and reach the late game area by passing through the Vestige of Blind Agatha. Enemies are incredibly strong, but there are some weapons you can pick up by going through them.
Hammer of Holy Agony
Weapon type: hammer
Requirements: 13 Power, 13 Radiance
Location: In the locked area you opened with the Pilgrim's Perch Key near Vestige of Blind Agatha.
Damage type: Physical and Divine Status effect: Bleeding
To obtain this hammer, you need to go through the area in the Bellroom where you unlocked the Vestige of Blind Agatha and head out until the pilgrim wielding two bell wands approaches the enemy. To your left you'll see a small gap with an archer on the far side and a beam between them containing this weapon. This hammer is a powerful hammer that scales with Radiance and Power, while also dealing holy damage and bleeding stacks.
Bloody Glory
Weapon type: Great Sword
Requirements: 32 Radiance, 30 Agility, 20 Strength
Location: In the locked area you opened with the Pilgrim's Perch Key near Vestige of Blind Agatha.
Damage type: Physical and Divine Status effect: Bleeding
To get this weapon, you'll have to run and dodge past several enemies, and you'll probably end up dying. From where you got the Hammer of Holy Agony, switch to Darkness to cross the gap with the archer and turn left into the cave corridor. Keep running past the enemies until you reach the main room, then turn right and follow the stairs to the top, watch out for more enemies. At the top you'll find a room with the weapon standing next to the altar, along with a crusader and three dogs. If you're still alive after getting it, go out and turn left to find a ruin where you can rest.
As you can tell from the requirements, this is definitely one of the best swords in the game and one that you probably shouldn't get early, but it is possible to get it. Bloody Glory scales with Radiance and Power and deals both holy damage and massive bleeding stacks.
