In the latest trailer for Metroid Dread, Chozo must resort to violence.
The new trailer shows Samus under attack by a mysterious Chozo warrior, and Nintendo describes the species as a "highly intelligent and technologically advanced" race that was once trying to bring peace to the galaxy. When the Chozo civilization reaches its breaking point, something has finally gone wrong and it's up to Samus to uncover this mystery.
In addition to this reveal, the trailer also includes other key scenes featuring a monster that appears to be Kraid, an enemy Samus had previously fought. Just like in the old games, Samus will be able to upgrade his arsenal throughout his journey with tools like Flash Shift, which gives him a short burst of super speed, the classic Grapple Beam, and the Storm Missile, which can lock onto multiple enemies.
In July, Nintendo revealed that the light blue suit Samus wore in an earlier trailer is the same suit he wore in Metroid Fusion. “In Metroid Dread, Samus' outfit appears to have changed somewhat from his previous quests,” Nintendo wrote. “This is the result of the organic suit from Metroid Fusion, which was drastically transformed after the attack of the X parasitic lifeform and injection of the Metroid vaccine – gradually returning to its original, mechanical Power Suit form.”
Metroid Dread launches for Nintendo Switch on October 8, the day the Nintendo Switch OLED model was released.
