Natus Vincere won the PGL Stockholm Major today without losing a single map after taking it to double overtime on Nuke to close the grand finals against G2 Esports. S1mple finally got the hard-earned CS:GO Major title and Na'Vi became the first team to win a Major without losing a map.
Starting with G2's Ancient pick, the series has had back-to-back responses to Na'Vi's early start, including a massive 2v2 from G4's nexa and AmaNEk. G2 avoided being reset by a Na'Vi anti-eco round and eventually took the lead. Na'Vi superstar s1mple took 20 kills in the first half, while Na'Vi led just 8-7 in the second half.
G2 held on to the CT side with a flawless pistol round and the map score eventually reached a 10-10 draw. From then on, nearly every weapon round became important, and Na'Vi won all but one of them. G2 missed some vital duels that cost them their own map picks, trailing 16-11 in the series after losing the Ancient 0-1.
This sent the series off to Nuke, who was of the opinion that given Na'Vi's 17-0 record over the past few months, it must have been an impossible task for G2. G2 needed a strong CT side and got double-digit kills from JaCkz, huNter-, nexa and NiKo for a vital 10-5 start to the map.
The G2 improved on its already solid lead with a quick and efficient T-side pistol round. With both hunter and NiKo leading the big gun rounds to 14-7, G2's chance to make history was not to be denied. Na'Vi avoided being on the wrong side of the map spot with a few key defensive moves, but G2 took their 2th round thanks to two opening 15Ks from JaCkz and nexa. Na'Vi continued to fight, taking advantage of the Deagle disaster from Niko.
NiKo's entry duel win against s1mple earned G2 their first round of overtime, but Na'Vi countered with two straight round wins to take a 17-16 lead. They jumped into A to take an 18-16 game-point lead, but were greeted by huNter- and NiKo, who were waiting to keep G2 alive.
Na'Vi jammed the G21 ramp to take a 19-2 lead. With time running out, G2 went to a desperate B-site, but this was an opportunity by Na'Vi to finally put an end to the series.
On maps played between the Legends Stage and the playoffs, Na'Vi had a brilliant 10-0 streak on their way to lifting the trophy, making it the first Major for all five players!
