Oceania teams removed from NA VCT LCQ, group stage will move to 8 team format

One year of VCT qualifiers means nothing to the VALORANT teams at OCE.

ORDER and Chiefs Esports Club were excluded from October's NA VCT Final Chance Qualifiers due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Qualifying for the LCQ by finishing in the top two at the Oceania Tour Championship in September, Australian teams would seek to join eight North American teams and secure a spot for VALORANT's Champions event on October 12 in Los Angeles.

“Due to COVID-19 regulations, travel documentation issues, and additional complicating factors, we were unable to get these teams to travel, compete at the event, and return home within a reasonable time,” Riot said in a statement on social media. Said.

To compensate, Riot chose to change the LCQ format and adopt an eight-team bracket. The format and schedule of the event will be announced in the “next few days”.

Riot said, “We share your disappointment with this outcome and will work to bring this exciting VALORANT region back for future events.” Said.
