Riot Games is sending large sums of funds to various humanitarian efforts in Eastern Europe thanks to the support of the players.
Riot announced today that it has raised a total of $5,4 million from fundraising initiatives in League of Legends, VALORANT, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics and Wilf Rift. This amount was collected thanks to battle tickets and certain costumes sold between March 5 and 12.
These funds will be shared equally between the three organizations that aim to assist relief efforts in Eastern Europe and Ukraine. $1,8 million; It will be distributed equally among the International Medical Corps, Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Riot joins numerous other game studios and developers to raise funds for humanitarian efforts in Eastern Europe. Epic Games recently reached $100 million in relief funding for the region from Fortnite in March, while Humble Bundle successfully raised more than $20 million from its week-long "Stand with Ukraine" fundraising campaign.
Riot is actively working to raise money for charities and other organizations through its Social Impact Fund, which was established in 2019 and allows the company to “directly invest in a variety of global organizations that aim to solve some of the world's most pressing problems.” Skin-related fundraisers such as Elderwood Ornn in League contributed to the fund and expanded to other Riot titles with the Sentinels of Light multiplayer event last year.
Those wishing to donate directly to relief efforts in Eastern Europe and Ukraine can do so through the websites of organizations that assist humanitarian efforts, such as those listed above.
