Riot Games new CEO Dylan Jadeja and Nicolo Laurent will remain with the company as advisors.
Nicolo Laurent is stepping down as CEO of Riot Games, and will be replaced by the company's current global president, Dylan Jadeja, according to an official statement from Riot. After six years in the CEO position, Laurent is moving into a consulting role to focus more on his family. The CEO transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
Dylan Jadeja, new CEO of Riot Games
Laurent has been a key part of the company since Riot Games was just a “2009-person startup” in 40, and stepped into the CEO role in 2017. Under his leadership, Riot Games was accused of promoting a sexist "bro culture" while Laurent was personally accused of sexual misconduct against his former executive assistant.
Jadeja has served as global president since 2011 at Riot Games, where she joined as Chief Financial Officer in 2017. Laurent claims it took nearly three years to plan his replacement, and for the first time in Riot's 17-year history "looked both inside and outside the company to find the best person for this role."

“I can imagine this news was sudden, but to be clear, this was a decision I had in mind for a while. I had the opportunity to have a long and wonderful journey with Riot,” Laurent wrote in his open letter. “While this chapter is coming to an end, I do not see this as the end – I do not plan to join or start another company.” Laurent said he plans to remain at Riot as a consultant "for years to come," and more details on the handover process to Jadeja will be shared in the coming weeks.
“It would be dishonest of me to suggest that I have all the answers and a plan of action already defined”
“As I look through the transition, it would be dishonest for me to suggest that I have all the answers and a pre-defined course of action,” Jadeja Riot wrote in her open letter to fans. “As CEO, it's fair to assume that I can do things differently than I did before, but I want to assure you – together – our goal will not change. This is to make Riot arguably the most trusted and authentic gaming company in the world… built by gamers, for gamers.”
In a 2018 study by Kotaku, many former female employees of Riot reported being sexually harassed, seeking promotion, and receiving unwanted genital pictures. It was reported that one of Riot's top male leaders regularly touched his genitals and farted in the face of his employees during meetings. Laurent was not named at the time of Kotaku's disclosure.
But a report by Wired in 2021 alleges, as Dexerto noted, that Laurent has retained some of the most troubled employees who have assumed leadership roles at the company during this time. Riot paid $2018 million to settle a discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed by eight former female company employees in 100.
