Riot announces groups for VCT Masters 3: Berlin

VCT Masters 3: Berlin is coming soon and Riot has revealed everything you need to know.

Riot Games introduced the groups for VCT Masters Berlin by dividing the 16 VALORANT squads into four different groups. Teams from the same region split, leaving room for a potential regional matchup in the future. With the event kicking off on September 10, teams now have some time to work on their group stage matches.

Group A will consist of Vision Strikers, Paper Rex, Supermassive Blaze and Acend, while Group B will host Vivo Keyd, Team Envy, KRU Esports and Zeta Division. Group C will consist of Gambit Esports, Crazy Raccoon, 100 Thieves and Havan Liberty. The VCT 2 Masters champions were placed in Group D along with the Sentinels, G2 Esports, Bren Esports and F4Q.

Groups were determined by placing the teams in the pools first, according to regional performances. Each team was then randomly drawn into a group. If a team is withdrawn from a group from its own region, it is placed in the next group. EMEA was the only exception to this rule as it had the most representatives in the tournament. As a result, SuperMassive Blaze and Acend were placed in Group A.

Masters Berlin will begin with GSL-style group play, followed by eight-team qualifiers. Two teams from each group will advance to the next stage, and the winner of the entire event will automatically qualify for December's Champions event.

Masters Berlin will take place from 10 to 19 September.
