Star Wars: Hunters, the upcoming team-based war game for Switch and iOS/Android, will not be released on the scheduled date. The game's publisher, Zynga, announced today that the game has been delayed worldwide to 2023 so that the studio can "meet the high expectations" of fans and developers.

“We know game delays are frustrating, but our top priority is ensuring players have the best possible experience in Arena,” said Zynga.

Hunters already had a "soft" launch on mobile, and Zynga thanked players for the feedback that helped make the game "the best it could be."

The studio said the game will continue to be active for testers with access to Hunters, and Zynga will regularly release even more new content over the next few weeks. However, the game's full release date will reach 2023.

The game was originally scheduled for release in 2022 before being delayed to 2023 and now again to 2021. Hunters joins the growing list of 2023 games delayed to 2022.

Hunters is a 4v4 team-based action game with maps based on famous Star Wars environments. You can play as a member of the Galactic Empire or the Rebels Alliance and choose a character class with their own unique abilities. As you can see in the trailer, there are melee-focused characters who use Lightsabers, and Stormtroopers who use ranged weapons, among others.

Hunters has been confirmed for Switch and mobile devices only. There is no word yet on whether it will come to PlayStation, Xbox or PC.
