According to a report from TheGamer, Steam Global appears to be banned in China. Currently only offering a limited game library of 103 games, Steam Global is unavailable in the country. Only the Chinese version of Steam is available.

Data Miner Ricky Owens (aka iFireMonkey) first noticed the ban. He announced that he could not reach Steam with a tweet from Twitter.

There have been people trying to verify this using the Comparitech tool, which checks if a site is blocked in China. Entering “store.steampowered.com” on the site, the tool shows that Steam is blocked all over the country.

China's blatant ban on Steam Global is a crude way to end the country's time spent gaming. In July, Tencent rolled out facial recognition technology that scans children's faces to ensure they comply with China's 22.00 p.m. curfew to prevent children from playing late at night. Just a month later, China introduced a new rule restricting minors from playing more than three hours a week. China later banned Fortnite.
