The Lord of the Rings: Gollum release date has been announced!

Developer Daedalic Entertainment announced on Tuesday that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the upcoming video game starring Gollum, which first appeared in 2019, will be released on September 1. According to a press release, the game is out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and the Switch version will be out "late this year."

Gollum, Steam list describes the game as a "story-driven action adventure" about the adventures of JRR Tolkien's favorite obsession. Gollum is not a warrior, so his focus is primarily on stealth and cunning, although fight/kill is never an issue. For this reason, your main goal in the game will be stealth.

Daedalic emphasized that one of the more unusual aspects of the game is the "split personality" of the lead character. “Gollum may be cruel and evil, but he can also be as sociable and cautious as Smeagol,” he said. This seems to carry over into the game as well.

The Gollum game kicks off a big era for Lord of the Rings as it comes out the day before Amazon Prime Video's TV series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It's exciting news for us to hear that a major game has a solid release date this year, especially after games like Starfield, Redfall, and Breath of the Wild sequels have been delayed to 2023.
