In this section, I will try to prepare an instructive and informative Valorant Agent Guide with my own VALORANT experience and the information I have gathered from various sources. In these guides, we will compile the story of the Agents, their skill sets, and the games you can make with these abilities.
CYPHER
Biography
Moroccan information expert and one-man surveillance network Cypher knows every move of the enemy, hears every secret and sees every maneuver of the enemy. Cypher's eyes are always on you
Cypher, whose real name is Amir El Amari (Arabic: اَمير; meaning "prince"), comes from Rabat, Morocco, where the map of Bind is also located. Cypher, who grew up and lived there in occasional poverty, harbors a negative view of the Kingdom Corporation as they invade his hometown and deplete its resources. Despite facing a tragic fate along with other members of El Amari's family, she once knew someone named Nora.
Hired as "Cypher", the fifth agent of the VALORANT Protocol, El Amari deliberately kept his face and identity a secret, even from his teammates. In line with his intelligence gathering efforts, Cypher won several rivals. Eventually its knowledge network would prove to be an invaluable asset to the VALORANT Protocol and its purposes.
He remained in the events surrounding the protocol's interest in the Everett-Linde Research Facility, particularly with the replication of Alpha-Omega transporters and his contribution to data recovery. VALORANT then faced various threats to its stealth nature; the first was the reopening of investigations into the events that took place in Venice at the 10th AFL. Cypher was trying to delete the exposed surveillance footage of Phoenix and Mirror Jett. Later, an unidentified blackmailer soon made his presence known, threatening to expose the organization to the world. Cypher tried to track down the new threat, but with little success as message encryptions proved untraceable.
ROLE: WATCHER (SENTINEL)
SKILLS
Cypher has some very cool and powerful abilities that give his team vision and extra field control. It takes some experience to understand how and where some of their talents should be placed. It's not uncommon for amateur Cypher players to booby trap or misplace a camera so that it doesn't affect enemy players.
C – BOBY TRAP (Price: 200 Credits, Quantity: Max 2 )
Talent Overview:
Booby Traps are an ability that Cypher places between two walls, slowing and revealing the first enemy that passes through it, then exploding to create temporary blindness. Traps are also hidden after being placed. It is very important to make it a habit to place the trap wires at a height below which enemies cannot crouch or jump. (as seen in the picture above). Wires only appear when they are very close to the enemy. Trying to destroy a trap wire is often very risky because good Cypher players have their eyes on traps.
Trap Usage:
Both of Cypher's traps must usually be placed before the start of each round. While this allows Cypher's team to play other positions at other sites, Cypher typically plays somewhat passively relative to other agents. Another thing to understand is that most high elo players know where their standard Cypher traps are. This means that the more creative a trap, the better your chances of catching an enemy off guard.
When enemies take over another site, be sure to get your traps before returning. Finally, when attacking with Cypher, be sure to cover your back with well-placed traps so your team doesn't get behind. If you place it at the correct height, you will ensure your team is safe when pushing an area/site.
Q – CYBER CAGE ( Price: 100 Credits, Quantity: Max 2 )
Talent Overview:
A smoke-style ability that hides after cyber cages are deployed. The cyber cage remains there until Cypher chooses to detonate the cage. Cyber cages make a sound when an enemy enters them. Since this ability is a smoke(fog) style ability, you can shoot your enemies while Cyber Cage is active.
Cyber Cage Usage:
This ability is usually placed next to a trap, but can also be used to briefly move around the map or block enemy view. When you know the enemies are pushing a site where you have a trap setup, you can blow up your cybercafe. If the enemies keep pushing, you can secure one or more enemy kills with your trap wire.
It's also worth noting that cyber cages can be detonated on the map and also via Cypher's spy camera. This means that Cypher has the potential to trick his opponent into thinking he's on a site he's not actually on. This can be a very powerful strategy if the enemy team has come to the same site many times in a row.
E - SECRET CAMERA (Signature Ability)
Talent Overview:
Hidden Camera is what makes Cypher quite powerful. This ability can be placed against a wall and then reactivated by Cypher to track where the camera is placed. While in Hidden Camera mode, pressing the fire button fires a dart that reveals an enemy hit. The dart can be thrown again after a few seconds. The camera also hides itself shortly after docking.
Camera Usage
The real power of this ability comes from the fact that he can get visions very early in each turn. Many sites have spots where Cypher can place his Hidden Camera to get a deep view of where the enemy might be coming from. If multiple enemies are spotted, Cypher can ask someone from his team to turn around for help. This also gives you an idea of what kind of weapons the enemy might have.
Making sure you don't place the Hidden Camera in the same position for multiple rounds in a row gives you the chance to constantly surprise your opponents. When placing this ability, make sure you don't throw it where an enemy can hit it right away.
X – NEURON thief (Ultimate Ability – Requires 6 Ultimate points)
Talent Overview:
This ability allows Cypher to quickly throw his hat at an enemy's corpse and scan it. Scanning a corpse reveals the location of all enemies still alive. Enemies spawn with a yellow frame that can be seen both through walls and on the minimap.
Neuron Thief Usage:
This ultimate is good with almost any use and can rarely be used at a bad time. Obtaining map information for the remaining three or four players is an excellent way to decide where you want to go with your team. An example of using this ability at a bad time would be if your entire team is alive and only one enemy remains.
There isn't much to know about this ultimate; It is relatively simple to use. It's worth noting that Cypher lost his hat after casting his ultimate and slightly changed his appearance.
Why Should You Play Cypher?
After Valorant was released, Cypher was one of the most frustrating agents to play due to many of his camera points. But since then, most of the camera points have been nerfed, making Cypher only slightly weaker. Good Cypher players still know strong camera spots that provide incredibly valuable information to their team.
Cypher's defensive abilities and playstyle often allow him to hold a site on his own. If enemies dare to advance to the site despite Cypher's setup, Cypher will provide ample time to alternately support his team.
Cypher's Playstyles
Cypher often plays rather passively to benefit his team. However, there are a few different variations on how Cypher can play to catch your opponent off guard.
1_ Normal Cypher
Cypher's standard playstyle is to deploy his abilities to any site he visits and deploy his spy camera to obtain information about enemies. All of this is typically done while sitting somewhere near the site you're exploring. This makes it much more difficult for the enemy team to enter a site undetected. This style of play also allows Cypher to reduce the risk of dying thanks to his camera.
2_ “Rotate” Cypher
Sometimes you have games where the enemy just decides to play the same site many rounds in a row. If your competitors are doing this all the time, the best thing to do is to install on the site where the enemies are constantly pushing. Set up all your skills before the tour starts, then go to the other site. This allows you to control your spy camera as if you are still in the field and trick enemies into thinking you are still there.
This strategy will probably only work a few times before the enemies realize what's going on. This strategy, of course, also depends on what your rank is and how smart your enemies really are.
Cypher Tips and Tricks
Since Cypher's abilities allow you to see the enemy's movements and the strengths or weaknesses of the defended site, good Cypher players will share the location of the abilities they have placed and the information they have gained with their team. (This will help your team collectively understand which areas are protected and which may be vulnerable blind spots.)
On the defense side, if the enemy team captures the site you did not set up, be sure to take your camera and traps with you when you go to the retake! Using the camera correctly informs your team to initiate a more convenient retake. In situations where time is limited and you have to solve the spike (at least halfway), the traps and cages placed will both waste your opponent's time and prevent you from being caught off-guard while you are solving the spike.
Although Cypher is a defensive character, he also contributes significantly to his team on the offensive side when played correctly. While your team is entering a site, you can leave a trap or camera behind you, take the enemies behind your team by surprise, or while attacking a site, you can advance to the site by restricting the opponent's view with your cyber cages and use your camera like Sova's scout arrow ability to detect enemies. Even if you still have your skills after installing the spike, you can make retake quite difficult by deploying these skills to positions where the opponent can retake, as if defending the same.
Preparation time is very important to Cypher. You need to do your installation before the round starts. One of the things you need to pay attention to when doing this setup is to provide diversity and creativity. So placing the traps and the camera in the same spots all the time makes your game predictable and makes it easier for the opposing team to advance. You can use the Cypher setups that best suit your playing style by browsing Youtube for different trap setups and camera points.
You can surprise your enemies by using Cypher's Cyber Cage ability as a one-way smoke. I leave a sample video below to demonstrate this…
Although one-way smokes can help you hunt your opponent without hearing their spirits, standing in the wrong position can cause you to be hunted by the opponent. So make sure you're standing in the right place after one-way smoke.
We have come to the end of our guide! I believe this guide will be useful to you in your matches and will help you prove to your opponents that you are a real Cypher player. If you would like to comment or criticize our guide, I will be looking forward to you in the comment section!
