VALORANT Patch 5.10 is here and it brings a lot of changes to the game.
The latest update focuses on three agents: Cypher, Harbor, and Fade. The developers buffed Cypher and Harbor and weakened Fade a bit. Also coming into the game is a new feature that fights toxic players.
As for the agent balance changes, the developers are increasing the length of the Booby Trap when adjusting Cypher's Neuron Thief. Overall, it should be a much stronger option from now on as it will provide more benefits to teammates. Meanwhile, Harbor will have more purchasable stacks in his Cascade ability in the latest patch. And Fade is getting nerfed. The agent will see that two of his core abilities, Death and Dark Veil, are weakened.

Cypher
As the game changes, we see Cypher's selection frequency and influence in the agent roster decreasing. While we think this is partly due to Chamber being in a more dominant position vis-à-vis the other Sentinels, it also has something to do with Cypher's Booby Trap builds becoming over-predictable and easily responsive over time, and not being rewarding compared to his ultimate ability. We think the increased length of Booby Trap will allow Cypher to create new builds with his traps and change his playstyle to slow down his enemies and force them to move carefully around the map.
Removing the ult's time limit on enemy corpses will make the ability more accessible, allowing Cypher to freely use the Neuron Stealer. Showing enemies a second time will extend the time Cypher is advantageous by allowing him to see the moves of his enemies after they are located for the first time and to make strategic moves. With these changes, we want Cypher players to expand their knowledge network with new trap arrays, and with the changes coming to Chamber, we want Cypher to be able to find his place in his class again.
- Booby Trap
- Maximum Booby Trap length increased: 1000 >>> 1500
- Neuron Thief
- Now shows the location of enemies twice, four seconds apart.
- The ability can now be cast on all enemy corpses with no time limit.
- Ability max cast range increased: 1200 >>> 1800
- Life quality
- Updated the yellow silhouette to show the location of enemies affected by Cypher's Hidden Camera and Neuron Thief abilities.
- To reduce confusion, the yellow silhouette now disappears when the positioned player enters the field of view.
- The yellow silhouette now starts out pale and becomes transparent faster so that it can be more easily distinguished from a real enemy.
- Cypher's placed devices are no longer affected by ally's AoE damage and destroyed.
Trays
We see that Fade's Death is quite flexible and difficult to play against, and we're making some changes to sculpt the ability. We want to make Fade more cautious in the areas he wants to clear with the changes we made to the durations, and we want to increase the counterplay capacity of the enemies with other minor adjustments.
We consider Nightfall to be among the ultimates that add more value to the team, so we're increasing its cost.
- Death
- Ability duration decreased: 3 sec. >>> 2,5 sec. (Time that Ecel survived without chasing the enemy)
- Bite delay increased after capturing the target: 0,4s. >>> 0,6 sec.
- The hit area has been improved.
- Decreased post-hit vision restriction time: 3,5 sec. >>> 2,75 sec.
- Death no longer disappears if his target teleports away before his animation is complete and doesn't weaken his enemy.
- Ability duration decreased: 3 sec. >>> 2,5 sec. (Time that Ecel survived without chasing the enemy)
- nightfall
- Cost increased: 7 >>> 8
GAMING SYSTEMS UPDATES
Real-Time Text Evaluation (North America only for now)
- In addition to our existing punishment systems, we are here with a new feature that allows players to be silenced for offensive text messages in in-game chat. Updating our penalty systems for offensive text messages allows for better evaluation of written communications and faster enforcement of penalties.
- These improvements will primarily be added to the North American region in the game and will expand to other regions in the near future.
- We hope that with instant text evaluation, annoying behaviors will be detected and reduced before the game is over and VALORANT will become a safer environment.
