Joe Ziegler tweeted on Monday that he had joined the Destiny developer and started working there.
“Update – I'm happy to announce that my new home at Bungie is working on new stuff that I hope will be played by all of you one day,” Ziegler wrote.
Ziegler is considered to be the first to come up with the idea for Valorant, which received critical acclaim in 2020 and reached more than 14 million monthly active players in its first year.
Earlier this month, Zeigler took to Bungie, tweeting that he was leaving Riot Games, citing that his job at Bungie was already secured.
“Hi guys, I just wanted to let you know that after 12 amazing years at Riot, this week will be my last week,” he tweeted two weeks ago.
“I leave with a heart full of gratitude to Riot Games and all of you for the wonderful memories we shared together. It will be updated very soon with my next home.”
Bungie is currently wrapping up Destiny 2's seventh expansion, Lightfall, which will be released on February 28. It will be followed by The Final Shape in early 2024, which Bungie says will complete the game's first major saga.
Riot announced last year that it plans to release a version of Valorant for mobile devices.
The company said in June 2021 that it was "preparing to expand the series starting with Valorant Mobile to bring Valorant to more players worldwide," but has not confirmed when the new version of the game will arrive.
