Weird West, the isometric immersive sim under development at Raphaël Colantonio's WolfEye Studios, has been delayed. Publisher Devolver Digital said beta testing was going very well, but not entirely well, so it delayed it until March 31 instead of arriving in January as planned.

“Weird West is amazing (according to beta testers) but some bad moments need to be fixed (according to beta testers too)!” Devolver tweeted. “WolfEyeGames has done something special and we want you all to have the best experience at launch.”

The problems seem to stem from the complexities inherent in the immersive sim genre. Colantonio, co-founder of Arkane Studios in 1999, said, “We all know how great these games can be when they all come together. Every player has their own experience and there are many things that could happen. And there might be some of them,” he said. be great and some of these things can't be that great."

Weird West is promising enough that I don't mind waiting a few more months to get it. I'm a big fan of immersive sims, and while the isometric perspective here is a bit unusual, it seems to work very well.

“Weird West reassured me that the immersive sim is still fun, still sharp, and open to interpretation by developers who want to take it further,” our associate editor Tyler Colp said in a recent hands-on preview. “If the game I'm playing is close to the final game at the beginning of 2022, I will be excited to step into its clockwork world and make some mistakes.”
