A new season of Fortnite is coming, and it's kind of… weird. Developer Epic Games is presenting Chapter 3: Season 2 of its long-running battle royale game, and this season is called Resistance. The story trailer features a series of opposing forces on the island of Fortnite, along with a certain wizard from the Marvel universe.
Ahead of the season's official announcement, Epic said it will donate two weeks of Fortnite proceeds to support humanitarian efforts related to Ukraine. This will run from March 20 to April 3.
The season makes a few big changes to the game. The most extreme is that, at least at the moment, buildings have been "erased", removing one of the most salient aspects of the game Fortnite. To offset this situation, players now have an additional shield for defense called an "overshield". Other changes include a faster combination of running and climbing that provide parkour-like movement, blimps and tanks to drive, as well as a handful of new weapons. If players donate enough gold throughout the season, they'll now unlock a drivable version of the iconic battle bus that looks like it came straight out of Mad Max.
In addition to the changes to the game and the map, the new season's battle pass also adds a handful of unlockable characters for purchasers. The most notable is Doctor Strange, which will return to theaters in May and is accompanied by the likes of The Imagined and The Origin. For those who follow Fortnite's ever-expanding knowledge, this season seems to be full of important details.
