A long-standing feature in Counter-Strike is left-handed play. However, players were disappointed to learn that the “cl_righthand 2” and “cl_righthand 1” commands typed into the console did not work in the CS0 beta. For those unfamiliar, this console command moves your weapon to the other side of the screen. This turns on your right-sided screen, allowing you to focus on your dominant eye. I've been using this feature for years. Switching to the CS2 beta was surprising since that's my style of play. How can you use the left hand weapon while playing Counter Strike 2? Unfortunately, It is not yet possible to play left handed in CS2. Many players have been asking for this feature since the release of the beta version. I hope Valve will soon make this feature available to many CS2 players like me.

Why is the left hand view model good in Counter-Strike?

Depending on which side your gun is on, your marksmanship can improve. If you are right eye dominant, your gun should rest on the left side, thus exposing a larger portion of that side of your screen. Left eye dominance requires the gun to be on the right side. Or you may be the lucky few who don't have a dominant eye, meaning you can place it on either side.

Players also use the console commands “cl_righthand 1” and “cl_righthand 0” to browse. This can be set up as a tie-down and used to move your gun out of the way when you're dangling around a corner.

How do you know if you have a dominant eye?

To find out if you have a dominant eye, find a spot on the wall more than arm's length away. Create a triangle shape by placing one hand on top of the other. Leave a small gap between your thumbs and align the spot on the wall.

Then, close one eye and see if the position changes. Do this test with both eyes, with the eye closest to yours being your dominant eye.
