The 25th anniversary of the Age of Empires franchise has been an absolutely unforgettable event for fans as the developers announced new projects and upcoming content for existing games. Among the announced projects was the Age of Empires Mobile game.
Microsoft and World's Edge celebrated Age of Empires' 25th anniversary with a live stream last night, during which the developer introduced Age of Empires Mobile as an upcoming project. Unfortunately, the developers haven't shared anything other than a short teaser confirming the existence of such a project. The teaser says the game will be out "soon", but it's pretty hard to turn it into an appropriate date. We don't even know if it will be a free-to-play experience or a paid experience.
While Age of Empires 4 is a joint project of Relic and World's Edge, World's Edge is currently the main developer behind all future projects in the series. During the show, Microsoft officially announced that the beloved Age of Mythology will receive a Definitive Edition and a new Age of Mythology game, Age of Mythology: Retold. World's Edge promised beautiful visuals and advanced controls for Retold, but the studio has refrained from sharing in-game footage for now.

Additionally, the studio announced the upcoming season of content for Age of Empires 4 and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, but more importantly, they confirmed that both games will head to Xbox Series X|S consoles in 2023. Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition will be available on consoles on January 31st next year, while Age of Empires 4 still doesn't have a proper release date. World's Edge has confirmed that the console versions of both strategy games can be played with an Xbox controller or with a mouse and keyboard. It will be interesting to see how the developer will turn mouse and keyboard mapping into a joystick in these games.
All Age of Empires games are already available on PC Game Pass. Obviously, Age of Mythology: Retold will join this list when it launches. In addition, we will share with you as new news comes out in Age of Empires Mobile, which is said to be released soon.
