After nearly a year of testing, Twitch's new TikTok-style discovery stream will finally roll out to all users later this month. During a Patch Notes livestream on Wednesday, Twitch announced the new flow that will let you navigate between separate streams dedicated to clips and current live streams.
The new discovery feed will open as a tab within the mobile app, and some users will be able to see this feed as the home page of their mobile app next month. Twitch says all live streams and clips are eligible to appear in the discovery stream as long as they meet its content guidelines.
As you scroll through the live stream, you can find Twitch-recommended broadcasts as well as live content from creators you follow. If you find something you like, you can tap the creator's avatar to enter theater mode and interact with the live stream.
Clip streaming, on the other hand, lets you view a stream full of short-form videos taken from Twitch live streams. Twitch will display when a creator is live and let you adjust if you want to see more. But this stream won't let you avoid ads; As product manager Jess Sung said during the Patch Notes broadcast, ads will appear in-stream. “Ads won't force you to pause your viewing or scrolling experience,” Sung said.
