Developer Larian Studios for Baldur's Gate 3 official mod support He confirmed that the feature is currently working and, better yet, will be available cross-platform and consoles.
The news came in a statement made by Larian Studios' publishing director Michael Douse on X (formerly Twitter), in which he said that cross-platform mod support is currently being worked on. He said the developer doesn't usually make such early announcements until things are close to being ready, but he made an exception this time. Currently mods for Baldur's Gate 3 are only Nexus Mods Available on PC through sites like.
“We are working on a solid cross-platform plan for mod support to be released later in the year,” Douse said. “We love our modding community and want to support them.” said
The wording in Douse's post makes it a bit unclear whether the full mod support system for players will arrive this year or whether Larian's mod support plan will be announced this year.
In a follow-up post, Douse said that the mod support system “still needs work” and needs to be tested, and that he recognizes that “it sucks when the game is updated and mods break.” With that in mind, Larian's community team will begin reaching out and working with modders to help prevent future issues, he said.
In a post on the game's official Discord server, Larian community strategist WombatMedic said the team is working with platform owners on a pipeline that will allow modders to publish mods across different platforms, and for mods related to "classes, UI, customization, spells, and specific assets and game mechanics." He said it would include support. The game's next major patch, which WombatMedic says is still months away, will include the "early stages of modding support."
WombatMedic also noted that players were frustrated because the game's frequent patches often broke mods, as was the case with the last patch for Baldur's Gate 3.
“We know this sucks, we know you want to play with mods, and we want to fix it,” WombatMedic said.
Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 was released on February 16 and improved the critically acclaimed RPG's kissing animations, as well as making some clever changes to dismissing party members and introducing new idle animations. Larian recently added another prestigious accolade to its collection of awards, with Baldur's Gate 3 taking home Game of the Year at the 27th annual DICE Awards.
