Michael Frazzini, president of Amazon Games, has resigned from his position and is leaving the company after 18 years. Frazzini said in a LinkedIn post that the main factors in making her decision were wanting to take a break from a long-standing career and focus more on her family.

“While it really isn't the perfect time to step away from a big role,” Frazzini wrote, “now is a good time. We've released two top 10 games in the last six months and have a growing portfolio of promising new games. ”

Frazzini was previously Amazon's director of writer services before being appointed responsible for the company's emerging video game division in 2009.

Amazon Games has seen numerous high-profile cancellations in recent years, including the shutdown of the planned Lord of the Rings MMO and the fiasco surrounding the multiplayer shooter Crucible, which was quickly shut down after its release.

AGS's success at New World last year was a welcome change, but even New World fell into a bit of a recession after its successful launch.

The company had more obvious success as the publisher of the hit South Korean MMO, Lost Ark, in Europe and in North and South America. Unlike New World, Lost Ark showed no signs of slowing down.

It's unclear what impact Frazzini's departure will have on Amazon Game Studios' future projects or its broader culture.
