And Call of Duty League appearances have been delayed.

Competitive Call of Duty players can jump into a ranked playlist sooner rather than later.

Call of Duty League general manager Daniel Tsay announced today that the Call of Duty: Vanguard Ranked Game mode is “scheduled to launch” in February. Tsay also announced that due to the delay of the second season of Vanguard and Warzone, CDL teams will not have special character skins and weapon camos for the "first few weeks of the [CDL] season." Team Pack bundles, which allow fans to purchase in-game cosmetics for certain teams, will be delayed "until the end of February," according to Tsay.

With regard to the audience incentives that have become traditional for CDL broadcasts, the discounts that fans receive for watching CDL will be delayed a bit. All the incentives earned watching the opening weekend of the regular season come with Vanguard's season two patch, while drops from the Preseason Kickoff Classic will be added to fan accounts on January 28.

Activision announced yesterday that the second season, which the broadcaster says is needed for this, has been delayed from February 2 to February 14. “Fix game stability and bugs to provide an overall level of polish for players and deliver updates including optimizations for gameplay and game balance.”

The delay comes after several months of public backlash over Microsoft's January 18 acquisition of Activision Blizzard and various controversies involving Activision Blizzard.

CDL's pre-season Kickoff Classic event will kick off on January 21. The regular season will begin on February 4th.
