Home to companies like Tencent and Netease, China has become a home for both the gaming world and gamers. However, the Chinese government has restricted the gaming world and players in recent years. The Chinese government has restricted Game time and refused to issue new game licenses.

Almost a year after these restrictions, China issued its first gaming licenses. According to Bloomberg, the National Press and Broadcasting Administration has posted an announcement of 45 new game titles on its website. Surprisingly, Tencent games were not listed among the titles. Instead, some of the listed companies were Baidu, XD, and iDreamSky.

Bloomberg reports that China has been the biggest fear of gaming investors in recent years. The Chinese government's hesitation in promoting gaming culture has understandably led some investors to be pessimistic about the future of the market in China. By giving the green light to some games, China seems to show investors that it does not want to get rid of this income completely.

There have been multiple restrictions on gaming in China over the past year. For example, it only allowed gaming for a certain amount of time per day. After complaints from parents, playing games during the night hours of the school week was completely banned. The government is also trying to more strictly regulate live broadcasts in the country.

For a gaming industry to thrive, it must have players. So while it's good for fans to see some new games coming from China, people living there won't be able to experience the same fun.
