Cloud9 defeats 2022 Thieves in NA VCT 100 opening match

In the first game of the NA VCT Challengers One main event, Cloud9 beat 100 Thieves 2-0 to leave.

The first game of the series took place in Split and C9 dominated 100T in the first half. 100 Thieves won the third round, but did not win another round until the 11th. They won the last two rounds of tomorrow to finish with a score of 3-9 and performed much better on defense.

The second half was more competitive as neither team won more than three rounds in a row. Cloud9 brought the game to the point of finishing in the 22nd round, but 100 Thieves only needed a two-round win to equalize. The final lap was two to two, as C9 managed to bring the spike down in milliseconds. 100T failed to retake the site and took the C9 Split 12-10.

Cloud9 started Breeze by dominating 100 Thieves on site B. C9 went on to win the next three rounds and easily won the bonus rounds. 100 Thieves finally stopped the bleeding in the sixth round.

Round seven took back 100T site but ended in disaster as he didn't have enough time to neutralize Spike. Three members eventually died in the explosion, causing 100T to echo in the next round and extend C9's lead to 7-1. But 100 Thieves finished the half with a score of 7-5.

C9 started the second half with his pistol round and easily stopped the 100T's advance towards field A. They went on to win the next two rounds, including the bonus rounds where Vanity managed to survive and 100T prevented the bomb from planting.

C9 made it to the point of taking the match in the 18th round, but took down the 100T Spike, forcing the round two-two to be able to delay their defeat. But C9 secured the game and took the match point one round later.

Cloud9 will play Evil Geniuses on February 25. 100 Thieves will take on The Guard on February 26.
