The new Dead Space isn't a remake. A remake where “everything” is rebuilt from the ground up and powered by a new engine: Frostbite. EA said the new version will "respect" the original.
“It is being completely rebuilt in Frostbite,” the studio said. “With all the new assets, new character models, new environments – even though we're basing them on the original designs. New parts, new accessories, new crash models, etc. there is. We rebuild everything from scratch, but keep the same story and the same structure.”
The remake of Dead Space was originally expected in 2022, but is now scheduled for early 2023. The game is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
