The Arisen Warfarer class is unlocked after completing the quest called The Sotted Sage. The goal is to get to Volcanic Island Camp Hot Springs. There you can give an NPC named Lamond whatever alcohol he desires: Newt Liqueur. Note that, as you can see above, it will take some time to reach this particular point of the game:

Lamond just wants his drink.

This journey to unlock the Dragon's Dogma 2 Warfarer class takes you from Bakbattahl to the southwestern passage and Drabnir's Grotto dungeon, so you can finally arrive at Agamen Volcanic Island.

Note that when you arrive in the Agamen Volcanic Island area, you will encounter several NPCs (Cliodhna and Gautstafr). Helping them not only unlocks the Magick-Archer class, but their own quest takes you to Lamond's location.

In any case, assuming you make it to Hot Springs, you'll see Lamond resting. You can talk to him, but he will only give you a Rotten Egg. If you want access to the Warfarer class, you'll need to find three bottles of Newt Liqueur that you can give to him.

Not: If you don't have three bottles of Newt Liqueur when you first encounter Lamond, we recommend leaving a reusable Portcrystal at Volcanic Island Camp. This will save you the hassle of going on another long walk just to give him the items.

There are a few places you can find Newt Liqueur in the wild in Dragon's Dogma 2:

  • There is a man named Earland located near the Residential Ward in Bakbattahl. He mentions that he sold one bottle for 2,000 gold coins.
  • Another bottle can be found in the Forbidden Magick Research Lab in Bakbattahl. In a room near a statue of a dead dragon.
  • There is also another bottle inside Cliodhna and Gautstafr's house.

You can also purchase Newt Liqueur directly from Higg's Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl's Residential Ward. Here's what you need to do:

  • This activity can be easily done by Beastren characters. However, if your character is a human, make sure you have the Beastren Mask. The Beastren Mask can be purchased from the Scrap Shop or from a traveling merchant in the Checkpoint Rest Town.
  • Go to Higg's Tavern Stand and make sure to equip the Beastren Mask. You will see some sacks outside the facility. Carry the sacks and place them inside the wooden cage.
  • An NPC will think you are a Beastren and let you buy Newt Liqueur from a secret shop. Each bottle costs 5,000 gold.
  • Note that attempting to carry the sacks as a human character without the Beastren Mask will cause the NPC to call guards on you. A fight will break out and you will probably be thrown in jail.

In any case, assuming you have three Newt Liqueur bottles, give them to Lamond. This completes the quest The Sotted Sage and Lamond also gives you the Warfarer class. You should also talk to him again because he rearmament provides a scroll that teaches his unique skill.

However, a better method would be to trick a tavern owner into purchasing a few bottles.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Warfarer class mechanics and playstyle

Dragon's Dogma 2 Warfarer is a jack-of-all-trades class. This is due to the following quirks:

How does Rearmament work?

Again, be sure to talk to Lamond to earn the Rearmament scroll. Rearmament is more like a function as opposed to an ultimate skill. When you press the corresponding button, it will cycle through the weapons assigned to your character's inventory. Here is an example:

  • You have the following skills equipped: Exploding Shot (Archer), High Palladium (Mage), and Skull Splitter (Thief).
  • This means you should have a bow (Archer), staff (Mage) and dual daggers (Thief) in your inventory.
  • You can then reorder them according to how Rearmament will cycle through them – so Thief / daggers first, then Archer / bow, and then Mage / staff.
  • When switching between weapons, only a class's active weapon will allow you to use that particular skill. This means that you cannot use High Palladium if you are currently equipped with a bow. First you need to move on to the wand.

In any case, the Dragon's Dogma 2 Warfarer class definitely emphasizes versatility. You can mix and match different types of capabilities to suit your needs. You can tank for a while before switching to melee DPS and then cast spells whenever you want.
