Riot Games celebrates the winner of the League of Legends World Championship by creating a series of five skins each year for champions selected by the winning team. These five exclusive costumes have been collaboratively designed with the players to add a personal touch by putting their signatures on the skins or specifying what kind of memory they want the costumes to have. The opening images for these skins were potentially leaked on social media.
The World Champion in 2021 was EDward Gaming, who beat DWG KIA with a 3-2 win in the grand final. At the post-match press conference, the five players were asked which champion they would choose as their Worlds skins.
The five skins have not been officially revealed by Riot, but if the leaked teaser image is believed to be real, League fans will have the opportunity to get the third skin of Viego and Aphelios. Here is the unofficial list of the five champions selected for the 2021 Worlds skins:
- Flanders – Graves
- Jiejie–Viego
- Scout - Zoe
- Viper – Aphelios
- Meiko – Yuumi
In addition to choosing champions, players can also specify to developers their preferred color palette they want to use for skins, which are usually the same color scheme as the team logo.
According to leaks shared by Cutebchu and Dailyaphelios on Twitter, the primary colors of the skins will be black and white with some red touches, just like the EDG Worlds 2021 jersey.
However, from the leaked image, it seems that the five champions will be decorated with more blue, silver and purple decorations. The style is said to be supposedly inspired by the Victorian era, with some League fans referring to the popular manga and anime "Black Butler" to describe the outfits worn by the champions.
There is a possibility that the skins will be released before the Mid-Season Period, which starts on May 10 this year. Worlds skins may be released in 12.8 or 12.9, meaning they'll arrive in Summoner's Rift in the first weeks of May.
