The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has launched an official investigation into allegations by former CS:GO coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen that the Heroic squad was complicit in using the spectator bug.

The official investigation was officially opened today, two days after HUNDEN submitted its ESIC report, and it allegedly shows evidence that some Heroic players are exploiting the bug. According to an interview between HUNDEN and TV2.dk, this alleged evidence includes confirmation from former player Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen that “everyone” on the roster knows about the use of error. This evidence allegedly includes recordings that show René “TeSeS” Madsen helping HUNDEN position himself to use the buggy spectator camera during a match in 2020.

In September 2020, HUNDEN received a one-year ban from ESIC for exploiting the tracker bug, and was eventually reduced to eight months for participation in this investigation. In the initial investigation, HUNDEN said that he was working alone and that the Heroic players were not accomplices. ESIC acknowledged that the new allegations contradicted its original statement, though it said it would investigate.

This latest development began earlier this summer when HUNDEN announced that he was leaving Heroic upon the expiration of his contract and denied allegations that Heroic had shared their strategy with teams competing at ESL One Cologne. Heroic responded the next day with a statement saying it had shared layers and thus violated its contract, and forwarded that information to ESIC. About a month later, ESIC gave HUNDEN a two-year ban for sharing Heroic strategy materials with competitors.

ESIC said the investigation into Heroic players will be made public with new updates.
