All tickets for the ESL Rio CS:GO Major, set to take place in October 2022, are completely sold out less than an hour after they went on sale, according to ESL.
The Rio Major was announced on May 24, just days after the completion of the PGL Antwerp Major. Tickets officially went on sale at 20:00 Turkish time, but sold out in just an hour. The ticket purchase link now links to a dead page.
Fans unable to purchase tickets can stay informed by signing up for updates on the Major via the ESL website. Fans who originally purchased tickets for 2020 can trade this ticket for the 2020 event, provided they have not yet returned their 2022 tickets.
There is a possibility that more tickets will be available in the future if ESL listens to requests for the tournament to be moved to a football stadium. Many Brazilian fans have pointed out that the Jeunesse Arena has a maximum capacity of 18.000, which they say is too small a number to represent the passionate Brazilian fanbase. By comparison, Antwerps Sportpaleis, the site of past PGL Antwerp Major playoffs, had a capacity of over 23.000.
Fans, like many of the game's greats like s1mple and FalleN, are demanding that the Champions Stage for the ESL Rio Major be moved to a football stadium. Some players have called for the event to be moved to Rio's massive Maracanã Stadium with a capacity of more than 78.000. Other venues in Brazil, such as Allianz Parque in São Paulo and Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, are actively trying to attract ESL's attention.
