Rudeism modified the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Game & Learn Controller to actually work on PC and even played Elden Ring with it.
Rudeism shared footage of Elden Ring gameplay with the Fisher-Price toy it transformed into an Xbox controller. He also explained a bit how he modified the controller while leaving most of the toy's original sounds intact.
One of the biggest challenges was that the controller didn't have the right analog stick. To get around this, Rudeism used the mode switch on the controller, which changed the mode from music to numbers.
When you change the mode, Rudeism changes the left joystick to the right joystick. It also changed some face buttons to do different actions. The joystick slides in just like on a regular Xbox controller. There are two bumpers at the top (one with wheels, the other acting as a kind of light switch) and these make up the LB/LT and RB/RT.
This project was inspired by a joke Wario64 tweeted on April 15. Wario64 shared a link to a discounted Fisher-Price controller, saying it was “perfect for Elden Ring.”
Rudeism is no stranger to different controller creations, as it recently beat Dark Souls 3 with Morse code.
