Follow a streamer, get cool emoticons.

All Twitch Partners and Affiliates now have access to five follower emotes that viewers can receive after following a Twitch streamer.

Five emotes are free and easily unlocked by following a publisher. This feature is available for Twitch Partners and Affiliates with instant upload eligibility. Prior to this announcement, the addition of follower emoticons seemed random, and only a few publishers had the ability to enable it.

A in the Twitter post (click the link to tweet.) Twitch said it's still working on animated emotes for Affiliates and will have them available by the end of January. Animated emotes are currently available for Twitch Partners.

Twitch Partners and Affiliates who do not have access to instant downloads may receive it, following the requirements set by Twitch. For Partners, at least 60 days must have passed since they became a Partner and 60 days since a breach. Affiliates must have published a total of 60 days in the last two years. The days do not need to be sequential, and new Affiliates cannot count the time elapsed before becoming a Partner. Their accounts must also be in good standing.

Those with instant upload access can head over to the creator dashboard to add follower emotes. Select “Viewer Rewards” from the left sidebar in the creator dashboard, then “Emoticons”. From there, select the “Slot Assignment” drop-down menu and select “Followers”.

Emotes are not public on Twitch and are limited to the channel followed. Expressions can be reassigned or new ones loaded.
