Tilted Towers returning to Fortnite in Season 8?

While Fortnite Chapter 2 brings with it many exciting features, there is a passionate part of the fan base that is always hopeful for the return of the Chapter 1 map. While that seems unlikely anytime soon, it looks like Epic Games is making fun of the return of the original map's favorite point of interest (POI): Leaning Towers.

Tilted Towers disappeared from the game at the end of Season X when the black hole swallowed the Chapter 1 map codenamed Athena and gave birth to the Chapter 2 map codenamed Apollo. Since then, players have anxiously searched for signs of a comeback, unfortunately to no avail so far.

In a recent blog post on the Fortnite website, Epic included a piece of official artwork showing some characters descending towards the island. Seen below in a Halloween-like turquoise hue, it not only offers a new style for the Renegade Raider, but you'll also see the beloved POI Leaning Towers clearly there when you look at the background.

Leaning Towers was the favorite landing spot in Episode 1 because it had the most loot and a great sense of verticality thanks to its many pre-built tall buildings, so even players who didn't build well could gain a height advantage over their opponents.

The artwork comes with a post announcing the return of the Late Game Arena mode on October 5. The mod was first introduced with the Bugha skin a few weeks ago as a celebration of the Fortnite World Series winner's Item Shop debut. –an early champion and a winning map–but that still isn't very good unless Tilted Towers returns to the Late Game Arena mode.

The game mode returns on October 5, and players will be able to compete in a pair of Cups in the days leading up to its return, so we should know more next week. Then again, the cubes currently migrating around the island emit an unknown "corruption" among players with an incomprehensible endgame, perhaps the Leaning Towers regiment has something to do with it.

Could the cubes be restoring the island? As always at Fortnite, we have many more questions than answers, but some answers should come in the coming days.
