Finally, an official release date for God of War Ragnarok has been announced. Sony has confirmed today that Ragnarok will launch on PS4 and PS5 on November 9, 2022, delivering on their promises that the game will launch this year. The long-awaited release date has been announced with a short new trailer, which you can watch below. In the trailer, we see Kratos and Atreus battling against various enemies as a father-son team before taking on a wolf that looks like Fenrir (Helena's mythological pet).
With the official announcement, Bloomberg's statement about the game's release date haber has been confirmed.
Alongside the news, Sony has announced that God of War Ragnarok pre-orders will go live on July 15 (starting at 07am PT / 00am ET for those in the United States), showcasing some of the special editions that will be available. If you pre-order any edition, you'll get a selection of snow-themed costumes for Kratos and Atreus.
As for the different editions of the game, there will be four editions of Ragnarok available for purchase: standard, Digital Deluxe, Collector's and Jotnar editions. The last three releases will give you access to both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game; If you buy the standard PS4 version, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for $10. Prices for these editions have yet to be announced, but the Jotnar edition looks like a high-priced option, especially as it includes a vinyl record, pinset, fabric map, a 16-inch replica of Mjolnir, and more.
After being delayed last year, Ragnarok has been confirmed to be released for PS2022 and PS4 in 5. A rating board listing in South Korea recently suggested that the action game developed by Sony Santa Monica is indeed nearing the finish line, but Sony has yet to offer a more definitive release date. Cory Barlog, who directed the previous game in the series, gave an update on the project in April, saying the developers were "perfectionists" and "heavy-headed, very hard at work." Since then, the developers at the studio have been constantly harassed by fans for the lack of a release date. Upon printing, Sony had announced that the release date would be announced at the end of June.
There's still a lot we don't know about Ragnarok, but it's a direct sequel to 2018's God of War, and it continues the story of Kratos and Atreus, who suffer the wrath of the Norse gods.
God of War Ragnarok will be released for PS9 and PS2022 on November 4, 5.
