“We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still ongoing,” Matthew Griffin, spokesperson for Team Cherry marketing and publishing, wrote on Twitter. “We're excited about how the game is shaping up and it's grown quite a bit, so we want to take the time to make the game the best it can be. Expect more details from us as we approach the exit.”
As you can see, it's clear that Silksong won't release in the first half of 2023 as originally planned, but there's no word or indication of what the game's new release date is.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Postponed
Team Cherry released its first game, Hollow Knight, in 2017, and it was extremely well received. While the game received several free DLCs, the studio was also working on a larger paid DLC expansion starring the Hornet in the game. In 2019, the team announced that the scope of this DLC has been greatly expanded and will now have a full sequel called Hollow Knight: Silksong. Since then, fans of the first Hollow Knight have been wondering when they'll be able to play Silksong.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is an upcoming Metroidvania video game developed and published by Team Cherry for Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It was first announced on February 14, 2019 as a sequel to the 2017 game Hollow Knight.
