Finally, the first Halo Infinite competition has been announced.
Halo Infinite isn't out yet, but thanks to an announcement from HCS today, we got confirmation of its first official competition.
HCS' first official tournament for Halo Infinite will take place December 17-19 in Raleigh, North Carolina and will include spectators, an open brace and much more. The starting prize pool of the event is $250.000.
To participate in the competition, fans must “confirm” their health before entering the stadium each day. Vaccinated attendees will need to present proof of vaccination and photo identification, while anyone who has not been vaccinated will need to present a negative PCR proof of COVID-72 test less than 19 hours prior to the event. The provision of these documents will be requested on a daily basis. Masks will also be required indoors under North Carolina state law.
No further details on how to register for the open bracket, what settings HCS will use, and what platform the tournament will be on have not been disclosed. However, according to the announcement, HCS "will have much more information to share in the future".
The format of the Raleigh event will differ from the official HCS Major formats due to the limited time between game release and the event itself. The championship group will range from the original 24 teams to 32 teams, and the top 16 teams from the open group will be part of these 32 teams.
For the official snooker game, four groups of four teams will be drawn and will be treated to one-round pools, with the first two teams in each pool being the farewell prize in the first round of the championship standings. The bottom two teams will have to play against the top eight teams from the open group in the first round.
The overall tournament will function as a 32-team double elimination group with the top eight invited teams effectively bid farewell in the first round.
The event will take place at the Raleigh Convention Center.
