Daniel “mertz” Mertz chose to breathe new life into his career by switching to VALORANT, following the path taken by many former CS:GO players.

Over the past year and a half, many Counter-Strike pros have decided to return to Riot Games' FPS. For some, it was a second chance to live in esports, while others wanted to try their luck at something new.

The Dane announced their transition to gaming by posting a featured video of their game on VALORANT on Twitter today. “After a great adventure in CS:GO, I want to reach new goals in another setting,” said Mertz. “I am proud to say that my next chapter will be written on VALORANT.”

Mertz started his professional career as part of the Eastern Vikings in 2015. He was then spotted by North Academy in April 2017 and played well enough to be picked up by the main team in 2018. The 22-year-old Danish won his biggest trophy ever at DreamHack Open Tours when he was the representative of the organization.

Still, the last two years haven't been very good to Mertz. He was part of teams like the Copenhagen Flames, x6tence and Nordavind, where he did not fare well at larger events. So his transition to VALORANT isn't all that surprising.

The Danish will be part of Nordavind for now. His contract with the organization will continue until he finds a new home.
