Blizzard has shared the Legendary Zhulong Sombra skin, designed for the Shanghai Dragons, the 2021 Overwatch League champions.

The Overwatch League is a major league in the eSports world where competitive teams from around the world compete to become the leading force in the game. To celebrate the hard work of pro gamers, the developers at Blizzard design an annual look for the Overwatch team that managed to take the title at the end of the Overwatch League season.

In a YouTube video posted on March 15, the championship skin was revealed for the Shanghai Dragons, the 2021 Overwatch League champions. The outfit was made for the DPS character Sombra and is called Zhulong. Based on the name of the eSports team Dragons, this new skin featured a striking snakestone theme. It's currently on sale until March 28 for those who want to add it to their Overwatch cosmetic collection.

As part of the screening video, players got a comprehensive look at the stunning Zhulong Sombra skin made for the victorious Shanghai Dragons. The outfit consisted predominantly of shades of red as it was intended to reflect the fiery appearance of a dragon. A few highlights of the design included a tiara with a pair of dragon horns, along with sequins on the arms and legs of the suit. Another nice touch was the addition of the Shanghai Dragons logo embroidered on the Sombra's back. Additionally, the dragon theme has moved to SMGs used by the DPS character.

Overwatch's Chief Concept Artist David Kang gave some details behind the production process, as well as showing off the skin in a YouTube video. According to the artist, a lot of research was done on the design before a concept drawing was made. He stated that while making the dragon art, it was important that the design remained authentic to the Chinese culture on which it was based. He stated that after doing preliminary research, a rough sketch of the leather was made and then refined by adding more details. The same process was then repeated for weapon skins.

The reveal of this new Legendary Zhulong Sombra skin comes shortly after the Overwatch League revealed a few more details about the upcoming 2022 season. In the latest update, the league announced that the game will switch to an early version of Overwatch 2. This meant that teams would consist of 5 players. In addition, the new character Sojourn will be playable with the Overwatch 2 game genre called Push. With only a few months until the start of the competition, it will be interesting to see who gets a new championship skin at the end of the season.
