Overwatch's Lunar New Year event returns on January 25!

The Year of the Tiger is approaching.

Overwatch kicks off its first event of 2022 with festivities and festivities. This year's Lunar New Year event is scheduled to take place from January 25 to February 15 with exclusive cosmetics, Blizzard confirmed today.

The Overwatch Twitter account posted a short teaser of the event. While it doesn't showcase any costumes or other cosmetics, the video features the voices of Doomfist, Mercy, and Tracer. Doomfist claims he will "eat meatballs like no one else has." And in response, Mercy laughed and said, “Excellent!” can be heard saying. The video ends with Tracer enthusiastically wishing the fans a "Happy Lunar New Year".

This event is themed on the Year of the Tiger and is the fifth iteration of the Lunar New Year annual event for Overwatch. During the three-week run, Capturing the Competitive Flag will likely make another appearance, giving players the chance to climb the ladder and earn competitive points. While the community remains divided over this mod, it has ardent supporters.

The Lunar New Year event brings new skins, sprays, voiceovers, emotes, and featured promos every year. Players can earn special event loot boxes for a chance to acquire these items or purchase them with credits. Exclusive cosmetics from past Lunar New Year events will also be available for purchase. Legacy Legendary skins cost 1.000 credits, Epic ones cost 250. Items from the latest collection cost triple, Legendary skins cost 3.000 Credits, and Epic items cost 750.

Players can look forward to the Lunar New Year 2022 event kicking off on January 25, complete with new and returning cosmetics and possibly old game modes. Fame, banquets, and access to special items will end on February 15.
