PGL has announced information about RMR tournaments for the upcoming CS:GO Major, PGL Major Antwerp 2022.

The organizer of the next Major will also be responsible for arranging RMR events. It will host one for the Americas (North America and South America), one for Asia (Asia and Oceania), and two for Europe (Europe and CIS).

All mentioned tournaments are scheduled to be hosted in April and will take place at PGL Studios in Bucharest, Romania.

The Americas region will be played first, as the Americas RMR is scheduled to take place from April 11 to 14. Based on PGL Major Stockholm 2021, only FURIA Esports has been invited and the remaining 15 teams will need to earn their place through competition. The tournament will be played in the Swiss format with the qualifying and progression matches bo3. The winner will be awarded Legend status, while teams ranked second to third and fourth to sixth will receive Challenger and Contender status, respectively.

Only four teams will compete in the Asian RMR, which will be played from April 15-16. All teams will have to go through open qualifiers and unlike other RMR events, this one will be played with a GSL. The top two teams will be awarded Contestant status at the Major in Antwerp.

The biggest slot challenge for the upcoming CS:GO Major will once again take place in Europe. Based on the Stockholm Major, the rosters were split into two tournaments. Playoff contenders such as Natus Vincere, Heroic, Virtus Pro and Team Vitality took part in European RMR A, while teams such as G2 Esports, Gambit Esports and Ninjas in Pijamas found themselves in European RMR B. Americas RMR and is scheduled for April 17 – 20 and April 21 – 24, respectively.

The only difference between the two is the number of specific points awarded to the top teams. The top four factions from RMR A will gain Legend status, while only three factions from RMR B will be rewarded with stats. Also, places from first through fifth through sixth and seventh through eighth will advance to the Challenger and Contender stages, respectively. In the second, places fourth to seventh will receive Challenger Status and only eighth place will be awarded Contender Status.

PGL also revealed details about the open qualifiers. A total of 12 are planned – four for Europe, two for North America, two for South America and one for each region in Asia (China, Oceania, the Middle East and the Rest of Asia). Open qualifiers will be held in February and March.

The organization also underlines that “from 2022 all participating players and roster must be fully infused,” which applies to both RMR events and PGL Major Antwerp itself.
